Who We Are
Formed in 1947 as a nonprofit corporation, the 180-member Rockford Writers' Guild exists solely to promote the literary arts and to nurture the individuals who pursue self-expression through prose and poetry.
What We Do * Publish a nationally circulated literary magazine The Rockford Review in the winter and summer featuring editor's choice cash prizes.
*Conduct local monthly meetings with guest speakers on topics of interest to poets and writers of all ages and stages.
*Produce a lively monthly newsletter Write Away to motivate members near and far and to celebrate their achievements.
*Participate in a variety of community events that advocate the literary arts such as Festival of Words and First Night.
*Sponsor an adult and youth Ides of March Poetry & Prose Contest to reward fresh insights into the human condition.
*Host an annual summer Gala Luncheon & Reading to showcase the talents of our entire Guild & Review extended family.
